Answer 5

After flowering reduce the amount of water to the plants

when the leaves turn yellow you can withdraw the water

during this period the tuber will ripen and increase in size.

By the end of October the stems should have fallen off

you can now remove the tubers from the pots and brush

them with a soft brush being careful not to remove any skin

if you do roots will not grow in that area next season.

Make sure you remove the scab which will have formed

where the old stems were this is very important as the

tuber can rot from this area over the winter period.

I then dust the area with flowers of sulphur and place in

a paper bag along with the name label then I place them in

open weave plastic crates available from d.i.y stores

and store in a temperature of around 45deg F

I store them in a cupboard next to the front door

Be sure to check them on a regular basis every 2 weeks.
